Wine, Culture & History
My interest in wine grows out of the same questions that shape my historical research: how goods circulate, how practices acquire meaning, and how everyday habits connect economic structures with culture and memory.
Wine is therefore not separate from my work as a historian. It is a particularly rich object for studying trade, consumption, material culture, social distinction, regional identity, and the transmission of knowledge.
I also work in public history around wine and wine culture. Through Wise Wine and related activities, I explore historical episodes, regions, people, and traditions for a broader audience, combining archival curiosity with professional training in sommellerie.
This work reflects a broader interest in bringing historical research beyond the university while preserving the discipline, context, and attention to sources that academic history requires.
